Welcome to the Pediatrix PAC

The Pediatrix® Political Action Committee ("Pediatrix PAC", "PAC") is a bipartisan tool for the company’s Government Affairs efforts. The PAC supports federal and state candidates who address the issues and challenges facing our organization. The PAC helps us engage in and strengthen relationships with key legislators and decision-makers.

Your participation in our Government Affairs efforts is essential. Building relationships and working alongside individuals who make decisions regarding health care in the United States are crucial endeavors for those who have dedicated their lives to delivering patient care. The PAC gives us the opportunity to be present, vocal and effective in public policy debates, which are vital to accomplishing our goals. The first step in becoming a meaningful participant in our advocacy efforts is supporting the Pediatrix PAC.

Through the Pediatrix Government Affairs efforts, we have worked to secure the following achievements:

  • Advocated for and secured over $60 million dollars in COVID-related provider relief payments for our Pediatrix practices in 2021 and 2022.
  • Attained significant Medicaid raises from between $5 million and $15 million in many states for our pediatric and obstetric providers.
  • Led noteworthy advocacy campaign in the U.S. Congress, Department of Health and Human Services and the Biden White House related to surprise medical billing and the No Surprises Act. Was successful in reaching the highest levels of the United States Government to have our voice heard on the important issue of “ghost contracting”.  Department of Health and Human Services acknowledged our advocacy efforts in its August, 2022 Final Rule. Efforts are ongoing.
  • Lobbied to have pediatric subspecialties (neonatology, pediatric cardiology and pediatric intensive care) included in the definition of “primary care” for purposes of higher payments under Obamacare, which resulted in a 60% Medicaid parity.
  • Reversed proposed cuts to pediatric cardiology and maternal-fetal medicine fetal echo procedures.
  • Enacted legislation to help provide resources to our opioid-addicted neonates.
  • Obtained high level advisory board nominations and placements for our physicians in national and state committees.
  • Mitigated financial losses in key states related to the Newborn Hearing Screening program due to new CPT coding structure.

Our lobbying team works closely with various Pediatrix departments, including Managed Care, Legal and Operations. Our contracted lobbyists are among the top in Washington, D.C. and 20 states.

Please contact Darren Patz, Sam Grossmann, Barclay Gang or your Regional/Practice Management Team to get involved in our advocacy efforts.
